Sound brings us back to a place.
This morning out of pure chance my Spotify radio station played “We’re Going Home” by Clint Mansell from the movie “Moon.” “Moon” came out in 2009 and stars Sam Rockwell, it is about a guy working on the moon for a lunar mining company. Without giving too much away, the movie is about desolation and hope. I watched the movie a couple years back, alone, at 40K feet on my way to Japan. The isolation the character faced at his remote lunar outpost was such an easy feeling to relate to as I sat in the cold and dark cabin, hurtling towards parts unknown. As Mansell’s track came through my headphones in the blue morning light today I could not help but be transported back to that tired, cold and isolated place.
